HI Andie, I have a almost 4 year old and a 13 month old, I started the 2nd stage foods at about 7 1/2 months! They didnt even have ceral till 6 months! The meats, I did myself, there was something about meat in a jar that didnt' sit right with me personally! I just did boiled chicken and put it in the food prosscer or baby mill with some water and added right to carrots or anything really ! I don't know if that helps! Hope so! Good Luck!!

I think by six months I was feeding Ryker stage 2's. We never did meats either. I just waited till he could chew before introducing meats. My son liked the texture of the stage two better and it was easier to feed. I think at 7 months we were even introducing soft table foods, mashed potatoes and things like that. Hope that helps and good luck :)

Hey Andie. I think we were giving stage 2 foods to Charlie at around 6 or 7 months. We weren't big fans of the meat in a jar either. So I waited until she chould chew a little more(8 or 9 months) and gave her small bites of chicken, pork, etc. Maybe you can just buy a couple jars of stage 2 and see how Taryn likes it. Then, you will know if she is ready. How is Taryn doing?

hi all,
thanks for responding to my question. i think i will finish out my stage 1 foods and start with the stage 2. thanks for the advice. taryn does really well eating puffs, krispies, pieces of poptart (no icing; just the end)...i think in about another month i can do meats. alot of people i know don't like the meat in a jar. i guess i shouldn't even buy it and just do my own meats????

col, taryn is hanging in there. she weighs 16 lbs 5 oz so she is gaining. i had her tested for allergies and she isn't allergic to anything so she will be called a "happy spitter". as long as she is gaining weight and isn't fussy, there's nothing really we can do. although she is fussy now b/c she is teething!!! how is charlie?

Hi Andie, I started Mia on stage 2 at about 7 months, and if you daughter does well with puffs, and krispies, than she should be good on stage 2 and in about another month you can try stage 3, they are thicker and some have small peices of pasta, or veggies. just give a little at time when trying stage 3. My daughter at first would think that the stage 3 was like 1 & 2 and just try to swallow it, then she would realizes they was pasta in there, and kinda gag herself, but now she eats anything and everything. as for the meats. i would only give either the chicken or turkey, no beef one. (gag) but only ones that were like chicken with mix vegs or chicken and apples (mia loves this one) i wouldn;t do the straight chicken n broth, those were gross.
but now she does well with peices of "big" people chicken.
